Stanko Simić, DMA

Assistant professor in the artistic field of Composition - compositional-technical disciplines

Stanko Simić (1987, Serbia) completed undergraduate studies of composition (2012, the class of Vlastimir Trajković), master and PhD studies of composition (2015 and 2023, the class of Zoran Erić) at the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade. In 2011 he earned a master’s degree in piano (the class of Lidija Stanković) and his student performance was awarded as the best performance in major course (Slobodanka Milošević Savić Foundation Prize, 2010). Three years later, he won the Josip Slavenski Foundation Award of the Composition Department, for his work Waves, trio for flute, violin and piano (2013). During the past several years, Simić has participated in various seminars and worked with renowned composers such as Luca Francesconi, Aleksandra Vrebalov, Larry Alan Smith, Rokus de Groot, Nils Henrik Asheim, Clemens Gadenstatter, Yann Robin and also by famous pianist such as Yuriy Kot, Alexander Serdar, Lidija Bizjak, Thomas Hecht, Logan Skelton etc. He was a finalist at the Krzysztof Penderecki International Composers’ Competition (Poland, 2012), as well as the Città di Udine Composition Competition (Italy, 2014). His works have been performed by numerous orchestras such as RTS Symphony Orchestra and conductor Bojan Sudjic, Radom Chamber Orchestra and conductor Maciej Zoltowski, St George Strings, Ensemble Metamorphosis, Piano duo Bizjak, Trio Singidunum, Novi Sad wind quintet, Aratos trio, VooDoo duo etc. Over time, he built his own style and orientation towards interpreting music of outstanding representatives of the XX and XXI century, especially works of Serbian composers and Alexander Scriabin, whose works he gladly and actively promotes. As a full member of the Composers’ Association of Serbia, currently he works as an assistant professor at the Composition Department of the Faculty of Music Art in Belgrade.
