Music Theory Department
The Music theory module within the Music science study program aims at forming music theory teachers, as well as qualifying professionals in all fields of music analysis, capable of creative and responsible work in music theory, or in media and cultural institutions.
The main subjects – Harmony with harmonic analysis, Counterpoint, Analysis of musical forms, Analysis of vocal literature and Analysis of musical styles and other subjects, students have the opportunity to gain systematic knowledge and understanding of methods and developments in music theory and analysis, along with skills of critical understanding of scientific theories and principles. Studies in Music theory enable students to build competencies for performing complex interventions in music theory, together with independent original and scientifically relevant research.
The Music theory module is in line with European standards for enrollment, duration of studies, requirements for advancement to the next study year, diploma acquisition and manner of study.
The professional title gained upon completing the master academic studies is master in art theory.
