The Composition Department
In the Composition study program significant attention is given to the development of students’ creative artistic capacities, with an aim to form the music personality of a higher-level professional composer.
In addition to acquiring abilities for independent artistic activity and participation in work of diverse performers and ensembles, students gain competencies for work in the field of music pedagogy in music schools, as well as in the cultural institutions.
The classes are individual (in the main subject – Composition, Orchestration, Piano, Music score playing) and group (Solfeggio, Harmony, Musical forms, Counterpoint and other courses).
The main subject program requirements are defined within the formal space between multimovement suite, lied and choral compositions, up to chamber ensembles and great symphonic orchestra. Gradualness in creative mastering the aforementioned, enables continual development of creative and compositional-technical skills in students.
Learning outcomes include obtaining creative skills for artistic expression and public performance, understanding the repertoire and music material, along with skills in teaching compositional-technical disciplines using contemporary principles and methods.
Professional title gained upon completing master academic studies at study program Composition is master composer.
