Vuk Simon Ovaskainen, BA second year student in the class of Sandra Belić, won the 1st prize of the 50th International Jeunesses Musicales Competition, in Cello category, held on 21-23 March 2022 in Belgrade.
In addition to the 1st prize, shared with Joel Geniet from France, Vuk Simon Ovaskainen was awarded with the Audience prize, Orchestra prize, as well as the Special prize for the best performance of the compulsory piece.The final competition stage in the Kolarac Endowment included performances by six finalists, with Symphony Orchestra of the Radio-Television of Serbia, conducted by Bojan Suđić.
After listening to performances of the 6 finalists with the orchestra, members of the Jury awarded their points and came with a final decision, and announced the following final standings:
1st prize – Joel Geniet (France) and Vuk Simon Ovaskainen (Serbia / Finland)
2nd prize – not awarded
3rd prize – Francesco Stefanelli (Italy)
