Borisav Miljković
Borisav Miljković (Kraljevo, 1987) completed a master’s degree at the Department of Etnomusicology (2012) under the mentorship of dr Mirjana Zakić and bachelor studies at the Department of Conducting (2015) in the class of prof. Bojan Suđić at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade.
In the period from 2015 to 2020, he worked as a teacher of Folk Dance, Traditional Singing, Traditional instrument playing and Folk Ensembles at the Music school „Stevan Mokranjac“ Kraljevo, than as a teacher of frula at the Music school „Mokranjac“ in Belgrade (2016/2017), as well as Traditionaln singing at the Music school „Kornelije Stanković“ in Trstenik (2017/2018). In the Institute for the Advancement of Education and Upbringing he participated in the development of curricula for music schools at the Department for Traditional Music (2018/2019, 2019/2020).
He has been the leader of the folk orchestra and singing groups in KUD “Abrašević” Kraljevo for many years, in which also works as artistic director and board president. He has won numerous awards and recognitions at festivals of choreographed folklore and traditional music in Serbia and diaspora.
The focus of his scientific interest is the instrumental practice of Serbia and the region in the light of correlative relations with identity modalities. He demostrates the research endeavor of mapping stylistic categories within the evolutionary mechanism of traition in a practical way through his pedagogical work. He participated in several international symposiums, presenting Serbian organological practice within the framework of world ethnomusicology. Since 2017, he has been an active member of the ICTM study group for musical instruments. Borisav is one of the founders and associates of the Center for Ethnomusicological Activities, which has realized several projects under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia. There are a numerous projects and events he participated as an associate: Summer Art School in Resavica (2010), The Bagpipe Festival in Svrljig (2010, 2011), The Bagpipe Festival in Spain (2010), KOMA (2014), BEMUS (2017, 2019), Educational workshop for the preservation of frula practice organized by Serbian Ethnomusicological Society (2017), Workshops of Serbian traditional singing and playing frula and kaval organized by KUD Abrašavić Kraljevo (2018, 2019).
