Dejan Božić, DMA
Dejan Božić graduated from Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade, with an honorary title “Student of the Generation”, and completed postgraduate studies at the “Stadtliche Hochschule fur Musik” in Trossingen, Germany, where he obtained the diploma of “Concerto soloist”. He completed PhD studies at the Faculty of Music, University of Belgrade. He attained master classes conducted by Ksenija Janković, Gerhard Hamann, Mario De Secondi, Svetislav Apolin, Michael Flaxman, Roco Filippini and Alexander Fyedochinko.
He won First prize on Festival of Music (’81, ’93), Federal level for solo (`81, `83, `86, `89), and Chamber music competition (`82, `87), and was the representative of Yugoslavia at the “Fifth Eurovision Competition for Young Performing Artists“, in Vienna (1990).
Dejan Božić performed as a soloist with the Philharmonic Orchestras of Belgrade, Niš, Sarajevo, Vojvodina and Macedonia, along with Belgrade Radio Symphony and Austrian Radio Symphony Orchestra and various chamber orchestras.
He performed recitals all over former Yugoslavia, as well as in Germany, Czech, Slovakia, Poland, Greece, Italy and Japan.
Božić currently holds a position of a cello professor at the Faculty of Music, University of Arts in Belgrade. He was a professor of cello at Academy Of Arts, University of Novi Sad (1999–2014) and Academy of Arts, University of Niš (2003–2004). He held Master classes at the music schools “Јosip Slavensкi”, ”Isidor Bajic”, ”Petar Krančević” and Conservatoire of Thessaloniki, Greece.
He has also acted as a president of the jury of International festival of strings in Mitrovica, International competition of strings in Niš and “Petar Konjović“ in Belgrade.
He is the principal cellist of “No Borders” Symphony and Chamber orchestra, “Žebeljan” Chamber orchestra, and visiting principal cellist of Montenegro Symphony orchestra
. He was a principal cellist of “L`Orchestre des Jeunes de la Mediterranee” (1991), “Belgrade Soloist” chamber orchestra (1990–1992), Vojvodina Philharmonic orchestra (1999–2000) and Belgrade Philharmonic orchestra (2005–2011).
He has recorded for “Deutsche Grammophon–Universal” Austria, “Oboe Classics” London, “Jugokoncert” Belgrade and “Chopin” Japan.
