Jožef Bisak
Violist Jožef Bisak received his elementary and middle-level musical education at the “Isidor Bajić” Music School. He graduated in viola from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad. During his studies, he collaborated with numerous musicians and attended masterclasses (Julija Hartig /Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, Amsterdam/; Prof. Zoran Jakovcic /Columbus State University, USA/; Prof. Pierre Henri Xuereb /Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur/; Prof. Gerard Causse /Eskuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia/; Felix Schwartz /1st Principal Viola, Staatskapelle Berlin/; Prof. Dejan Mlađenović /FMU, Belgrade/).
He has been a solo violist in the Orchestra of the Serbian National Theatre since 2006. In October 2015, he successfully auditioned for the position of solo viola in the Symphony Orchestra of RTV Slovenia. He is a permanent member of the Vojvodina Symphony Orchestra, No Borders Orchestra, and the chamber orchestra “Camerata Academica.” Since 2016, he has been a member of the Acies Quartet (Austria), with whom he actively performs and records. Alongside Robert Lakatoš and Marko Josifoski, on the recommendation of the former quartet member, Dragan Đorđević, he reestablished the Rubikon string quartet.
As a soloist, he has performed with the Symphony Orchestra of the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad and the chamber orchestra “Camerata Academica.” During these performances, he collaborated with eminent world conductors and soloists. With Benjamin Ziervogel, he performed Mozart’s “Sinfonia concertante” on a concert tour with the La Filarmonica Sannita orchestra in 2019 (Italy, Switzerland).
He has participated in the Ljubljana Festival, Maribor Festival, BEMUS, NOMUS, SOMUS, NIMUS, the Chamber Music Festival “Blisko” with Stefan Milenković, ZUM, Ledamus, and Ravanelius festivals.
In 2013, as a solo violist with the No Borders Orchestra, he took part in recording a CD for Universal Music GmbH Austria and Deutsche Grammophon. In the same year, as a solo violist of the Žebeljan Orchestra, he participated in recording a chamber music CD titled “Balkan Bolero” by Isidora Žebeljan, which was released in London in 2014. In 2016, he recorded a CD with the Acies Quartet for the Gramola record label, Vienna (Supersonic award from Pizzicato magazine). In 2019, they recorded works by Glenn Gould and Friedrich Gulda for the same label.
