Novak Mijović
Novak Mijović graduated from the Elementary music school in Bar, Montenegro in the class of prof. Miki Jelenić. In the class of prof. Izudin Čavrković he first graduated from the Stanković High School of Music (Belgrade), and then studied at the Music Academy (Kosovska Mitrovica).
As a member of the RTS Big Band, he performed with eminent jazz musicians such as Benny Golson, Jesse Davis, Eddie Henderson, Brad Leali, Stjepko Gut, Duško Gojković, Nikola Mitrović, to name but a few.
As a young representative of Serbia and Montenegro, in 2007 he performed with the Big Band of the European Broadcasting Union throughout Europe and Asia. Since 2008, he has been a permanent member of the international octet of Duško Gojković, with whom he performs on the European jazz scene. He was also a member of Duško Gojković’s band on the albums “Balkan Jazz” (2011) and “Latin Haze” (2014), released by Enya Records.
At the Jazz Department of the Faculty of Music in Belgrade, he became Stjepko Gut’s assistant in 2012, and from 2018, an assistant professor of Jazz trumpet.
