Srboljub Dinić
Srba Dinić was born in 1969 in Niš (Serbia), in a family with a rich musical heritage, where he received his first music education. After he graduated from high school in his hometown in 1987, he enrolled at the Faculty of Music in Belgrade to study piano and chamber music.
In 1995 he accepted the invitation from Reiner Altorfer to go to Basel where he worked as Accompanist in the theatre between 1995 and 1997. From 1997 to 1999 he worked as Accompanist and Assistant in opera in Bonn.
He returned to Basel in 1999 and assumed the role of Assistant to the Chief Conductor Julia Jones.
Simultaneously he studied conducting in Bonn with Professor Wolfgang Ott. He completed his master’s studies with Professor Saša Nikolovski in Skoplje.
He made his debut at the Basel theatre with the opera Macbeth by Giuseppe Verdi. Between 2001 and 2004 he worked as the Principal conductor and Assistant to Chief Conductor Miguel Gomez Martinez at the Bern Theatre. In 2004 he became a Chief Conductor at the same institution, and he stayed in this position until 2013. From 2007 to 2011 he was also the Artistic Director of this house. He conducted 37 opera premieres in Bern and more than 60 productions, symphonies and gala concerts. The most important among them is certainly a project by Swiss television channel SF1, which broadcasted live performance of the opera La Boheme across the whole of Western Europe. Production and DVD received the most important TV award in Switzerland Golden Rose Award.
In 2013 he got the position of Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of one of the biggest opera houses in America, Palace of Fine Arts (Teatro de Bellas Artes) in Mexico City, and he was there until 2019.
Srba Dinić is also the Chief Conductor of a renowned chamber orchestra St. George Strings Orchestra from Serbia, and he has worked with them since 2013.
